The new construction of the sports hall and the day school opens up the opportunity to qualitatively enhance the urban development situation, both in terms of the village image and the quality of the outside space of the school complex. By positioning the two new buildings in the depth of the area the existing sports hall are not affected so that the maintenance of the sports and school operations during the construction period is guaranteed without the need for provisional arrangements. The school complex is set back towards „Solothurnstrasse“ and is separated from the road by planted, growing trees into which both bicycle and car parking spaces are integrated. The street space in turn receives a new, distinct green spatial setting. The area becomes recognisable as a village mat and the access to the area is revalued. • The sports hall and the day school are two separate buildings with different standards but a common language. The joy of movement and the importance of doing sports in the school and association landscape finds its architectural expression in a transparent hall. It visually intertwines the outdoor sports facilities and the vastness of nature with the events taking place inside. Like a roof or umbrella, the hall stretches over the playing fields and forms a large canopy over the schoolyard, inviting you to linger. The entrance area and the spectators gallery are thresholdlessly connected to the outside area. An inviting staircase leads to the lower level of the sports halls and changing rooms. The equipment room is optimally located across from the entrances. The finely dimensioned fair-faced concrete construction gives the hall building an organising structure. Timber element formwork is used in the sector of the movement areas and for the cladding of the building services equipment. A second staircase provides a separate exit from the cloakrooms to the outdoor sports facilities and ensures the safe escape. The day school is designed as a timber frame construction, which is smaller and more directly dimensioned. Here the modularity of the system allows for easy and flexible conversion or expansion. It is a single-storey building, bright and transparent. Futhermore it is optically connected to the landscape and the outside space. Facing away from the schoolyard, a small separate outdoor sector is offered.
